Thomas Miller Investment sponsor the Edinburgh International Book Festival

Thomas Miller Investment is delighted to be a Major Sponsor of the Edinburgh International Book Festival (EIBF).  The EIBF began in 1983 and is a key event in the August Festival season, celebrated annually and located in the historic Charlotte Square Gardens opposite our office.  It is the world’s largest Book Festival, encompassing over 700 events.  Each year, writers and readers from all over the world gather to become part of this unique event.

This year, three events are branded as the “Thomas Miller Investment Event”, and we are hosting guests at each of them.

1.  Alistair Darling in conversation with James Naughtie on Friday 24th August.

This event will give us the opportunity to hear Alistair Darling’s views on the economic crisis, the UK Coalition Government, and the forthcoming Scottish referendum. James Naughtie will be as robust as ever in his interviewing style.

2.  Joe Simpson, mountaineer and author, talking about his new novel, “The Sound of Gravity” on Wednesday 22nd August.

Joe Simpson is well known for the events surrounding his near fatal expedition to Siula Grande in the Peruvian Andes with his climbing partner Simon Yates.  “Touching the Void” was subsequently made into a film.  Around the world, Simpson is known for his courage and death-defying achievements.

3. Richard Holloway, former Bishop of Edinburgh, discusses his autobiography “Leaving Alexandria: A Memoir of Faith and Doubt”, with his friend Baroness Julia Neuberger on Wednesday 15th August.
