Grace inspects Royal Commonwealth Pool progress

Grace has returned to school and to a full training schedule. She spent her recent half term week in Leeds and was invited to visit the Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh which is currently undergoing major refurbishment. Grace was delighted to accept and very keen to be given a special tour of her future training and competition arena at the Royal Commonwealth Pool (RCP).

Kitted out in safety gear, Grace was excited to be able to survey the ongoing work at the A-listed swimming pool, “I was asked by Edinburgh Council to visit the Commonwealth Pool – it was amazing! I even got to go up to 10m platform and was able to see the pool from up there. It is going to be stunning when it is finished and I cannot wait to dive there when it reopens in March”.

The £37m refurbishment is now in its final phase and on target to reopen to the public in spring 2012. The RCP will host the diving events as part of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games – where Grace is set to dive for Scotland. This has been an extremely complex project to upgrade the pool and for Grace, the reopening next year will mean that she no longer has to travel the distance to Leeds to train every weekend.
