Edinburgh International Book Festival

Thomas Miller Investment are once again sponsoring 2 events at the EIBF:

Monday 11th August: Matthew d’Ancona is an award-winning political columnist and former editor of The Spectator, and will talk about his most recent book In It Together : The Inside Story Of The Coalition Government.  From ‘I agree with Nick’ to the behind-the-scenes fury that has threatened to wreck it, the Conservative/Lib Dem Coalition has been one of the most unlikely alliances in British political history. Matthew d’Ancona had unprecedented access to David Cameron, Nick Clegg and Boris Johnson while writing In It Together, his no-holds-barred account of a bruising experiment in power.

Sunday 17th August: Max Hastings is a former war correspondent and Telegraph editor, and author of an array of magisterial and uncompromising histories.  In his latest book Catastrophe: Europe Goes To War 1914, Max Hastings re-examines the ‘Great War’, blaming Austria and Germany entirely for its outbreak whilst railing against the poet’s prevailing view that it was not a war worth fighting.  His book is one of the most heavily-anticipated tomes this year, and the event should be very interesting.
